Biography

Dr. S. S. Siwach, presently working as Director of Research at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar did his Doctoral in Plant Breeding with specialization in Plant Breeding and Genetics & Seed Technology in 1995. He also looked after the Extension activities as Director Extension Education. He has undergone trainings in the relevant field of his specialization. He contributed in the development of first GMS line and on the basis developed first GMS hybrid in the country in AAH-1 in Gossypium Arboreum L. as well as in the development of first GMS bases Gossypium hirsutum hybrid HHH 287. Dr. Siwach started seed production of the varieties as well as parents of hybrids at farmer’s field. He contributed in the development of newer varieties /hybrids of Cotton having better seed cotton yield with resistance/ tolerance to abiotic as well as biotic stress and better fibre quality. Dr. Siwach is also responsible for the screening and evaluation of recommended Bt. Cotton hybrids. Crop varieties and hybrids of CCS HAU has been registered with PPV & FR as well as with NBPGR. A number of MoUs with different seed companies and other commercial technologies have been signed during his tenure as Director of Research. He is planning, executing, monitoring and technically evaluating on-going research schemes of different constituent colleges/outreach Research Stations of CCS Haryana Agricultural University. Dr. Siwach has more than 100 research publications in National and International repute of journals. On behalf of the University, he has been nominated on various committees of Haryana Government, Central Government to represent CCS HAU.
